Real estate taxes

It is important to be knowledgeable about property taxes before you decide to invest in real estate in Botswana.

Some tax rates vary depending on whether you are a citizen or non-citizen. Three types of taxes you must be aware of include
Transfer duty (5% or 30%)
VAT (0% 0r 14%)
Corporate tax (22% or 30%)

Capital gains tax on disposal of property (22% or 20% for resident and non-resident companies respectively
WHT on rent – deductible at 5% of gross amount of rent
